Thanksgiving 2014

Shane had his retirement ceremony from the Air Force on the 26th of November 2014.  It happened to be the day before Thanksgiving 2014.  Every one of his brothers, his parents, his children, his in-laws and the Moon family attended.  It was the first time our family was all together in one place for a year or so.

It was a great ceremony.  By chance, Lt. Colonel Jonathon Creer, Robin's brother was at Nellis with his B1 squadron. I was so proud of Shane and his accomplishments.  He was a superstar in the Air Force.

The extracurricular activities surrounding the event were remarkable.  Shad went to San Diego the previous Sunday.  He was scheduled to speak at a fireside there.  It took him 11 1/2 hours to get to his sponsor's home.  He asked Adam Miller to cover for him.  There was a murder on I-15, construction in roughly the same place on the freeway and other extenuating circumstances that caused his delay. They visited Sea World on the Monday that Ferguson Missouri announce the Grand Jury would not indict Daren Wilson for shooting and killing Michael Brown, who was unarmed.  That city plus others erupted in civil unrest.  We asked him to carefully consider taking his family, Brooke and Lauryn to Magic Mountain based upon the violent events unfolding in the nation. He ended up going to Magic Mountain and they said the had a blast.

The next day we had a wonderful family Thanksgiving at Shane and Patricia's.  Her family was there also.  Her brother gave Shane and AR15 for a retirement gift.  On black Friday, Shane and Shawn took us all to a place to shoot.  I was so very proud of my grandchildren who followed every safety instruction Shawn and Shane presented before the event.  It was fun and safe.  Shane and Shawn have some very fine weapons.

On Saturday we drove to Utah.  Emma and McKay rode with us and they were perfect during the entire trip.  We slept at Shad's on Saturday night.  While there, Scott Bowden called and told us Daisy was sick.  He arranged for John Weekes our Vet to diagnose Daisy.  She hadn't been eating and has a banana size lump on her udders.  He gave her pain medication and an antibiotic.

Daisy seems to be much better today.

This was a wonderful holiday.  Now if we can get Daisy better.

Jay in the Marines 1969

This is the person inside me fighting to get out. But the big fat guy takes over, slaps him and feeds him a cookie.

Respect and Reverence

This is a great article about respect and reverence given by Margaret S. Lifferth First Counselor in the Primary General Presidency in the April 2009 General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
